Sponsored by Kirsty Williams AM, Cabinet Secretary for Education

Noddwyd gan Kirsty Williams AC, Ysgrifennydd y Cabinet dros Addysg

We are pleased to invite you to the launch of the Wales in the World report, by the Learned Society of Wales, which will feature as an insert in the Times Higher Education in mid-September.

This report provides a selective showcasing of how the Welsh Higher Education sector contributes to international research, innovation, and achievements. It also celebrates Wales as a vibrant, dynamic, welcoming and innovative place to live, work and study.

Few issues are more important in the competition for good students, research funding and research staff at a time of economic and political challenges than building Wales’s international profile and enhancing its reputation internationally for excellence in the areas of research, education, and innovation.

This publication is the third in a series by the Learned Society of Wales designed to communicate the impact and intellectual vitality of Wales, and follows previous publications in the prestigious journal Science: Growing Science in Wales (October 2016), and the more recent Kings College Policy Unit report on the Impact of academic research from Welsh universities (June 2017)

The launch will be held at the Pierhead Building, Cardiff Bay on Wednesday 27 September 2017 between 12.15pm and 12.45pm (Refreshments available from 12 pm).

Speakers will include Kirsty Williams AM, the Cabinet Secretary for Education, Sir Emyr Jones Parry, President of the Learned Society of Wales, and Professor Peter Halligan, Chief Executive of the Learned Society of Wales.

Spaces are limited, so you are advised to respond promptly to ensure a place.

***************

Mae’n bleser gennym eich gwahodd i lansiad adroddiad “Wales in the World”, gan Gymdeithas Ddysgedig Cymru, fydd yn cael ei fewnosod yn y Times Higher Education ganol mis Medi.

Mae’r adroddiad yn arddangos detholiad o’r ffyrdd y mae’r sector Addysg Uwch yng Nghymru’n cyfrannu at ymchwil, arloesi a llwyddiannau rhyngwladol. Mae hefyd yn dathlu Cymru fel lle dynamig, croesawgar ac arloesol i fyw, gweithio ac astudio.

Ar yr adeg hon o gystadlu am fyfyrwyr da, cyllid ymchwil a staff ymchwil, ar adeg o heriau economaidd a gwleidyddol prin yw’r materion pwysicach nag adeiladu proffil rhyngwladol Cymru a chyfoethogi ei henw da rhyngwladol am ragoriaeth ym meysydd ymchwil, addysg ac arloesi.

Y cyhoeddiad hwn yw’r trydydd mewn cyfres gan Gymdeithas Ddysgedig Cymru â’r nod o gyfleu effaith a bywiogrwydd deallusol Cymru, ac mae’n ddilyn cyhoeddiadau blaenorol yn y cyfnodolyn nodedig Science: Growing Science in Wales (Hydref 2016), ac adroddiad mwy diweddar Uned Polisi Coleg Kings ar Effaith ymchwil academaidd o brifysgolion Cymru (Mehefin 2017)

Cynhelir y lansiad yn Adeilad y Pierhead, Bae Caerdydd ddydd Mercher 27 Medi 2017 rhwng 12.15pm a 12.45pm (Lluniaeth ar gael o 12pm).

Bydd y siaradwyr yn cynnwys Kirsty Williams AC, Ysgrifennydd y Cabinet dros Addysg, Syr Emyr Jones Parry, Llywydd Cymdeithas Ddysgedig Cymru a’r Athro Peter Halligan, Prif Weithredwr Cymdeithas Ddysgedig Cymru.

Nifer cyfyngedig o lefydd fydd ar gael, felly fe’ch cynghorir i ymateb yn fuan i sicrhau lle.
