Event description
Previewing the Wales Innovation Network: an initiative for research and innovation collaborations in Wales

About this event

In his 2020 report, Strength in Diversity, Professor Graeme Reid recommended the creation of a new initiative designed to tap into the diversity of Wales' research and innovation capacity, through collaboration.

At this crucial moment for research and innovation in a changing international landscape, the Wales Innovation Network (WIN) will raise the profile of R&I within Wales and the UK, provide a forum in which participants can share expertise, and increase the competitiveness of university R&I by making it easier to form bidding partnerships and share infrastructure.

This lunchtime event is an opportunity to hear more about plans for WIN, and to input into its developing agenda. Speakers include leaders from across academia, industry and government.

Yn ei adroddiad Cryfder mewn Amrywioldeb y 2020, argymhellodd yr Athro Graeme Reid y dylid creu menter newydd wedi’i chynllunio i fanteisio ar yr amrywioldeb sy’n bodoli o ran ymchwil ac arloesedd yng Nghymru, a hynny trwy gydweithredu.

Yn y cyfnod allweddol hwn ar gyfer ymchwil ac arloesedd, o fewn tirwedd ryngwladol gyfnewidiol, bydd Rhwydwaith Arloesedd Cymru (RhAC) yn codi proffil Ymchwil ac Arloesedd (YacA) yng Nghymru a'r DU ac yn darparu fforwm lle gall cyfranogwyr rannu arbenigedd. Hyn yn ogystal â chynyddu cystadleurwydd YacA prifysgolion, trwy ei gwneud hi'n haws ffurfio partneriaethau ar gyfer gwneud ceisiadau a rhannu seilwaith.

Mae'r digwyddiad amser-cinio hwn, dan gadeiryddiaeth yr Athro Hywel Thomas, llywydd Cymdeithas Ddysgedig Cymru, yn gyfle i glywed mwy am gynlluniau ar gyfer RhAC, ac i gyfrannu at ei agenda sy'n datblygu. Ymhlith y siaradwyr mae'r Athro Graeme Reid, yr Athro Paul Boyle, ynghyd ag arweinwyr o bob rhan o'r byd academaidd, diwydiant a'r llywodraeth.
