Route Description:

Starting in Madeley we will use the Silkin and the Rough Park Ways before ascending onto Rough Park, going down through Dale Coppice to Coalbrookdale then to the lower part of Coalbrookdale where we will have our packed lunches. After lunch it’s up again to the view point in the Beeches LNR, with an option to tackle the Rotunda steps en route. Then it’s back to Madeley via Lloyd’s Coppice. On the way we will find the birthplace , working places , the site of a major enterprise, and the final house and resting place of Thomas Parker - the largely unsung inventor of the electric car.

Grade of Walk:

Pace: Moderate/Strenuous

Terrain: Mixed with some road walking ,some narrow woodland paths and much else .

Steps and Stiles: Yes , steps and stiles. Steepest steps optional.

Dog Friendly: Yes - Dogs to be kept on lead unless agreed with walk leader

General Information for Walkers

All walks take place within the Ironbridge Gorge which will naturally include uphill and downhill sections.

Please come prepared for the walk, with water, drinks, snacks and lunch as appropriate as it is not possible to purchase items on route.

Good walking boots/shoes are essential and be prepared for wet or sunny weather - possibly both in the same day!

Children ( Under 18’s ) are welcome but must be accompanied by an adult with parental responsibility and be capable of the distance, pace and duration of the walk.

Please allow plenty of time to reach your event parking can be tricky in the Gorge! It is possible to reach Ironbridge via public transport but there are limited services. For information on local bus services see www.arrivabus.co.uk or www.telfordpublictransport.co.uk .

Medals are available for anyone completing 25,50,75 or 100 miles over 3 or more walks during the festival and if you complete over 150 miles you will receive our new Cartman Challenge medal – it has been done!!!

- A certificate for every walker and a medals ceremony on the last day of the Festival at the All Nations Inn from 4.30pm. Certificated available for download afer the event.
