Along the garden path will be an investigation of the neighbourhoods between The Cut and Elephant & Castle.  It's an area that you wouldn't immediately think of as offering a wide variety of gardens - however, by undertaking this walk, you will discover some green spaces, some surprising gardens and learn a gardening tip or two.

Your hosts are garden design and writer, Anne de Verteuil and Andrew Stuck, the creator of Wednesday After Work Walks.  Anne's garden designs include private and public commissions and her writing appears regularly in The English Garden, Gardens Illustrated and the Garden Design Journal.

Some of the route will be over parks and grassy areas so wear appropriate footwear.  We will be handing out a field notebook and pencils with which you can jot down your observations and notes of plants and gardening tips, but we will also be asking you to help us reveal the stories of the gardens themselves - we want you to be as creative as possible!

We envisage the walk will take between 90 minutes and 2 hours and will be approximately circular, starting and returning to Southwark tube sation on the corner of Blackfriars and The Cut.

There's a charge for this walk of £12 but you can qualify for a £2 discount if you introduce someone new to Wednesday After Work Walks (they too get the benefit of the discount).

This one of a series of participatory walks in and around London (Zones 1 &  2) in September - an opportunity to wind down after work, have fun and meet people who enjoy walking and discovering new things to do and places to go in London.
