About this event

  • Event lasts 1 hour 30 minutes

The South East London Suicide Bereavement Service invite people bereaved by suicide to join us for a gentle walk and talk around Danson Park in Bexley on Saturday 30th August at 11:30am.

Anyone who has lost someone important to them, either to suicide or suspected suicide, is very welcome.

If this is your first walk with us, please don’t feel daunted or apprehensive about joining on your own. You will quickly find yourself in a friendly, understanding group.

The walk

The walk will be between 2-3 miles long and should take around 45 minutes. We will stay together as a group throughout the walk.

We hope this will be a relaxed and welcoming opportunity to meet other people who have been through a similar experience, as well as getting some fresh air and exercise to support our wellbeing.

Meeting Point

We will meet outside the Danson Stables pub/cafe, which is at the back of the car park next to the Old English Garden. Our walk leaders, Amy and Richard will be there from 11:15am and will be waiting by the benches in front of the building. Please ensure you arrive in time for an 11:30am start. We will eventually return to Danson Stables, where you are welcome to stay for a tea/coffee and continue chatting.

Getting there

The nearest station is Bexleyheath and there is a car park off Danson Park Road, which runs through the park itself. If you are driving, you will need to use the entrance on Danson Road on the east side of the park. Please note there is a £3.50 fee to park in the car park.

Please note that:

  • This walk is not suitable if you cannot walk unaided and we will stay together as a group throughout the walk.
  • There are public toilet facilities in the park
