Description

Walk one of London's hidden rivers and learn about its history and ecology for London Rivers Week!

Your expert guide will be Stephen Myers, author of The Lost Rivers of London and specialist on the Walbrook.

Meet at 10am to explore the City of London’s river. We will walk the little-known western branch of the Walbrook through Islington and the City to where it enters the Thames at Cannon Street Station, exploring the impact of the Walbrook on the origin, history and development of the City of London.

Walk is approx. 5km, gentle gradient downhill. Wear sturdy shoes and clothes suitable for the weather. Bring drinking water. Approx finish time 1pm near Cannon Street station. Stay for a drink at the Banker pub!

A London National Park City Foundation launch event for London Rivers Week 2019, in association with Thames21 and London Rivers Week. Also supported by the Museum of London’s Secret Rivers exhibition.
