Event description

Description

To mark the 100th anniversary of the peace celebrations held on 19th July 1919 and the end of the First World War, the Historical Research Group of Sittingbourne is organising a Walk of Reflection, on Sunday 21st July 2019 at 2pm. The aim of this event is to provide the community with a visual representation of the number of local men and one woman who died during the conflict. Each name will be represented by a person (either a relative, or a member of the community) who would like to commemorate and remember that individual’s contribution to the world we enjoy, because of their sacrifice.

If you would like to take part in the walk and carry one of the names, please regiter for a free ticket. Currently we have identified 1149 names from the local parishes. To check if your family name or relative is there, please check our website: http://www.hrgs.co.uk/parish-memorials-all/

If you have a specific name you wish to represent please contact us separately: http://www.hrgs.co.uk/contact-us/

Details of joining instructions will be emailed to you nearer the time.
