Event Details

Our traditional attempt to ease a little of the guilt of Christmas over-indulgence will occur on Sunday 30th December. You can face New Year’s Eve in better shape! A five mile stroll through delightful countryside with fields, animals, woodland, ponds and canal to keep you visibly entertained, plus the good company fellow walkers always provide.

Our meeting place at 10.00 am will be the public (free) canalside car park at Barley Mow bridge at Winchfield Hurst. See opposite and here for a map. Allow 2 hours for the walk.

Due to the size of the car park, we will need to limit the group so book early to avoid disappointment. We request a small donation of £5 per walker – no charge for children. This will help the Trust to continue working on its aims of making the Blackwater Valley a great place to live for people and for nature.

The walk is along mainly good paths, just a couple of short road stretches. There are some longer wet grass areas and only one muddy patch at the time of checking. There are very few stiles, most can be bypassed by using adjacent unlocked gates. It’s winter, so please take the usual dress and footwear precautions! Our walk marshals will ensure you don’t get lost.

Well behaved dogs on leads are welcome.

For those still in the festive mood try booking a table nearby at the The Barley Mow. On Sunday they have a full menu including the Sunday roasts! Just call 01242 671590 or look them up here:- http://www.barley-mow.com/.Note we do not have any connection to the pub and any choice to use it is at your own risk!
