Walk Ride GM late summer meeting
Event Information
Description
Join us for our quarterly meeting. Speakers include:
Chris Boardman - Greater Manchester's walking and cycling commissioner on how the Bee Network is shaping up and whether we should worry that the money is running out (NB he will be appearing by video, answering pre-submitted questions, as a diary mix-up means he is actually on holiday in September).
Helen Pidd - How to put together a community-backed Bee Network bid. She set up Walk Ride Romiley earlier this year and the group then worked with Stockport council on an ambitious multi-million pound bid which includes a filtered neighbourhood, a safe cycle route to two local high schools and more. Plus trampolines!
Paul Morris from Civic Engineers, the creative engineering practice behind Glasgow Avenues, the beautiful £150m revamp of Glasgow city centre; and The Climate Innovation District, a brand new eco community in the heart of Leeds that puts people before cars. He will tell us what lessons we can learn from their projects.
Robbie George from Walk Ride Cheadle on how to set up a local Walk Ride group and how to pick your battles.
Aisha from Living Streets Leeds about their successful community campaigning
Arrive from 6pm for a 6.30pm start.
