All students and staff are warmly invited to join the Multifaith Chaplaincy team at 1pm on Friday 2 May for an opportunity to experience the campus labyrinth.

Our Quaker Chaplains, Jan Webb and John Webb, will be your hosts. Jan is interested in labyrinths and believes deeply in the value that experiencing a labyrinth can bring for our wellbeing. And it was John who built the labyrinth itself.

You will be invited to experience the labyrinth by following its path and offered some prompts and questions to consider as you do this. The Multifaith Chaplaincy team will provide you with refreshments too (hot or cold depending on the weather forecast!).

Every year on the first Saturday in May thousands of people around the globe participate in World Labyrinth Day as a moving meditation for world peace and celebration of the labyrinth experience. In education settings like ours, the day is marked the day before!

Key information:

The event will begin at 1pm and likely finish around 2pm. You are welcome to come for just 5 minutes or for the whole event.
You can find the labyrinth between the Peter Lanyon Building and the Institute of Photography.
You will be given guidance on how to walk the Labyrinth. It takes about 10-15 minutes.

What do you need to do to prepare?

Please wear suitable clothes and footwear.
Please bring a reusable cup for your drink if you can.
Please bring a sense of curiosity and openness.

What can the labyrinth do for your wellbeing?

It is outside and available 24/7.
Walking with focus absorbs the mind.
It can be a meditative walk or just a pleasant experience.
It’s a metaphor for our journey through life – celebrating a path we share.
There’s a real connection to the environment
