Remembering Those Who Did Not Return. Visit the war memorials in St Mary’s Church and walk to the Memorial Gardens on Hengate to witness hundreds of names of men from Beverley and the East Riding who went to war in the 20th Century but did not return home. Hear the stories of some of those who made the supreme sacrifice for their country. Check out the Danish soldiers buried in Beverley and find out about the Secret Army set up by Churchill to fight a guerrilla war if Britain was invaded by Hitler.
