Dorset Living Well Active is offering free volunteer Health Walk Leader Training exclusively for members and professionals who want to help people living with cancer enjoy the wide range of health, fitness and wellbeing benefits walking can offer.

Our Volunteer Health Walk Leader Training is certified and evaluated by the national health walking initiative, Walking for Health. For more information about this initiative and the training please visit their website.

The basic content of the Health Walk Leader Training course is designed to develop the knowledge and skills to confidently and enjoyably lead a group Health Walk and includes:

  • The benefits of walking and overcoming the  barriers which prevent people from walking.

  • How health walks are different from normal walks, with a demonstration walk to identify the component parts and good practice.

  • The qualities of a good walk leader, their role and responsibilities.

  • Information about planning routes and administration.

Numbers are limited to 15 per course.
(In the event of less that 5 participants booked, the training will be postponed)
