Event description

Annie has lived in Kennington since the 80s. She has connections to the old Court House on Renfrew Road, which now houses a beautifully designed Buddhist Centre. She remembers how quiet and spacious the area felt when she first moved there, a contrast to her former neighbourhood in Islington. We talk about the shops that were in place that no longer are, community, knitting, Vauxhall/Kennington's industrial history, gardening and breadfruit! Annie’s favourite route takes her from her home near Kennington Cross to the Garden Museum on Lambeth Road.

Memory Maps is a look at the experience of local residents in relation to their built environment. It uses people’s stories as the basis for walking routes around the city. Routes are provided as audio clips and digital walking guides. This route will be released on Friday 23 June - book a free ticket to register interest.

This project is part of the London Festival of Architecture 2017.

An exhibition of related artwork will take place at the Durning library from Friday 23 – Fri 30 June with a Private Viewing on Weds 28, space is limited, request to book a free ticket, via @studioepp
