A wander from Notting Hill Gate to Kings Road via leafy backstreets to see where Agatha wrote many of her most enduring murder mysteries

About this event

Agatha Christie, probably our best-loved and most-adapted murder mystery author, lived and worked within many properties in the western part of central London adjacent to Kensington Gardens and the River Thames.

Not just for the murder mystery fans – this route links together places associated with the great writer via evocative leafy lanes and village backstreets and, being as there are plenty of other things to see and hear about along the way, this will appeal to anyone with an interest in this lovely part of London.

We start near Notting Hill Gate tube station and cover approx 4.5 miles in two sections, making our way southwards through Kensington and Chelsea with a refreshment stop* near Gloucester Road station.

We'll look at five places where Agatha lived and wrote many of her most famous novels, such as Murder on the Orient Express, Death on the Nile and The Mousetrap. You'll also hear about her other London and UK homes, the characters she created, and the events that inspired her – these will be tied in to other interesting locations along the route.

Our journey ends near Chelsea Town Hall (Kings Road) where there are plenty of opportunities for shopping and further refreshments. The closest tube stations are a walk or a bus ride away at South Kensington or Sloane Square.

  • The exact meeting point for the walk will be clearly described on your ticket and confirmation which will both be sent via email after purchase – please do not rely on maps supplied through other non-Eventbrite apps which often give incorrect/vague information.

*The refreshment stop is not an organised destination, nor is it included in the price. There are plenty of cafes, pubs and food outlets near Gloucester Rd station.

Also available: 'Agatha Christie's London' – a presentation via Zoom, delivered as chronology of her life.

My guiding style is inclusive, open and friendly. I design and research every tour myself – in fact, the research never ends. The walks and talks I offer are all on subjects that intrigue me – each highlights a different facet of my personality. I am particularly interested in the architecture of our ever-changing streets and the little details on and above them.
