Discover the fascinating history of the development of the South Kensington area. Known previously for its health benefits and few big houses . The area was acquired by the Commissioners of the Great Exhibition in 1851. We will walk through ‘Albertopolis’ viewing the site of the Great Exhibition, the Albert Memorial and Monument to the Great Exhibition, Albert Hall, and learn about the origins of the major museums and institutions of South Kensington.
