About this event

Travel & Outdoor • Other

Women were first allowed to sit in Parliament just over 100 years ago but during this time many have made an indelible and at times infamous mark on the history of this country.

In their roles as Prime Ministers, Secretaries of State and as Speaker of the House, they have helped to introduce legislation which have hopefully made the UK a better place to live

We will hear the story of the campaigners who fought to allow all women to vote, the early pioneer MPs who battled to even find a desk, the campaigners who argued for equal rights and of course the story of our three female Prime Ministers

And not forgetting the important women who worked in Parliament behind the scenes as cleaners, cooks, reporters and librarians who also at times faced a battle to be accepted due to their gender.

The walk will end near St James Park
