Join us for a captivating walk through Old Mollington, where centuries of history unfold around every corner. From grand estate life to village schooldays, the stones still whisper their tales.
Beginning at today's school, we'll step back in time at the neighbouring farmhouse and original village school (now a preschool) before uncovering where Mollington's very first lessons were taught.
Meandering up Well Lane, we'll encounter the imposing Dower House, stately North Lodge, and charming 18th-century cottages marked by distinctive features revealing their connection to the once-mighty Mollington Hall estate. Estate walls lead us to where the magnificent Hall once stood—though the great house is gone, its legacy lives on in the delightful chauffeur's cottage and atmospheric cobbled stable yard.
Along our route, discover fascinating remnants including a rare 16th-century cheese press and architectural signatures of the powerful Davies family that once ruled this domain.
This gentle circular walk returns us to the school car park, but you'll leave with a completely new appreciation for the remarkable layers of history hidden in plain sight throughout Old Mollington.
Please wear appropriate clothing and footwear.
