Earlier this year, local Olympian Tom Bosworth MBE a double British race walker, three-time World Record holder, 21-time British Champion, Commonwealth Games Silver Medallist, and six-time British record holder developed an inspiring new programme to boost physical activity across Kirkby.
The 10-week initiative, “Walking with Purpose,” was designed to help participants experience the many benefits of regular movement from improved fitness and mental wellbeing to stronger muscles all through a gentle, supportive approach.
Throughout the programme, participants completed daily activities, such as short walks around their homes, gardens, or local green spaces. With Tom’s expert guidance, each individual was able to adapt the exercises to suit their comfort and ability levels. Over the ten weeks, they tracked their progress, celebrating each small step toward better health and confidence.
