Event description

Description

Join us for an unmissable adventure this Wander the World: Edinburgh Edition

What is Wander the World: Edinburgh Edition?

We’re holding an action-packed adventure through the streets of Scotland’s capital city to celebrate World Thinking Day 2019.

World Thinking Day is a global celebration of the 10 million Girl Guides and Girl Scouts around the world – so what better way to mark the occasion than by joining together with girls and volunteers from all over Scotland?

Wander the World: Edinburgh edition will see Girlguiding members explore the capital, completing challenges inspired by the five WAGGGS World Centres - Pax Lodge (London), Our Chalet (Switzerland), Our Cabana (Mexico), Sangam (India) and Kusafiri (Africa). We've also weaved the brand new programme themes - Know Myself, Express Myself, Take Action, Be Well, Skills for my Future and Have Adventures - into the day.

Who is it for?

This event is open to all Girlguiding members from all sections.

When is it?

Wander the World: Edinburgh Edition takes place on Saturday 23 February, 2019.

We have two sessions running:

Session 1 - 10am-2.30pm *(We suggest you choose this session if you are travelling less 90 minutes to attend)

Session 2 - 12pm-4.30pm *(We suggest you choose this session if you are travelling more than 90 minutes to attend)

How will it work?

You’ll be competing in groups of a maximum of 10 to navigate the streets of Edinburgh, completing your challenges. Please ensure that the appropriate ratios for your section are adhered to.

You’ll set-off from McEwan Hall at the heart of the University of Edinburgh Campus, where you’ll receive your mission pack telling you what tasks you must complete.

The challenges will take you around some of Edinburgh’s top visitor sites as you work with your team to complete the tasks and gain points.

The event will conclude with a return to the McEwan Hall for a special promise ceremony led by Scottish Chief Commissioner Moira McKenna.

Sounds great – how can I get involved?

Ready to accept your mission? Then book your tickets via Eventbrite. The deadline for booking is 1st February 2019 - please note this may be brought forward if the event sells out.

More information will be released in early February.
