An interesting 8 mile historical walk exploring relics from World War 2 and an ancient monument situated within the Langsett Area. We will explore rarely visited sites which still have physical evidence that this was a vast secure military area on the moorlands not so long ago. Some of these include a tank wash, catenary bases, an abandoned military vehicle, mortar targets and an underground bunker.
The walk is mostly off the pathways and will take most of the day.
The moorland is home to many animals and birds, including Grouse so dogs aren’t allowed on this occasion.
What will you need?
It will be boggy underfoot so sturdy boots are required and gaiters are recommended
Please bring waterproof coat and trousers, spare warm layer, hat and gloves
Enough food and drink for the day.
A small (head) torch may also prove useful
Please note: Both Robin and Duncan are first aid trained however you will be solely responsible for your own safety and transport arrangements. We accept no responsibility for any loss, injury or illness as a result of joining the hike.
