Event description

Description

Open Afternoon at Uxbridge Meeting House. Tea and Talks. Speakers from 3 organisations discuss the current challenges of approaching rising militarisim in the UK as we reflect on 100 years since World War One - the 'War to end wars".

ForcesWatch are an ethics-focused organisation. They campaign for an end to the UK's recruitment of children, scrutinize military recruitment and influence in public spaces, advocate for change to improve the welfare of military personnel and veterans, and seek greater public debate on militarism.

Rhianna Louise works on Education and Outreach at ForcesWatch. She will be talking about how, a century after the end of the War to End Wars, we are seeing a resurgence of militarism in the UK including the use of World War One remembrance to promote and further militarisation. She will share projects ForcesWatch are working on to challenge militarism, change the narrative around security and protect young people.
