About this event

  • Event lasts 1 hour

Winter is here and it's starting to get colder. Unfortunately, the cost-of-living crisis is still very much a major concern for Shropshire residents. Last winter many of our voluntary and community organisations along with libraries and leisure centres opened as Shropshire Warm Welcome venues for residents. Once again, many of our voluntary and community organisations are pledging to open again as Warm Welcomes for our residents. Shropshire Council will support and promote Warm Welcome venues provided by our community and voluntary organisations across Shropshire.

We are hosting this Warm Welcome Hub Grant Funding Q&A to provide you with all the information you need on how to apply for funding and what the eligibility criteria is. There will be a short presentation about the Warm Welcome Hub scheme, followed by a chance to ask any questions you may have.

What makes a Shropshire Warm Welcome venue? A space that is welcoming, safe, warm and inclusive:

  • Free and open to all
  • A warm environment to sit and enjoy a chat and/or activity
  • Accessible and inclusive
  • A place to find information to help with rising energy and living costs and financial support

How community groups will be supported:

  • Information on training, resources, and grant funding opportunities
  • Cost of living leaflets and signposting information
  • Grants varying in size from £50 up to £5000 to help cover the cost of providing Warm Welcome facilities, to include a contribution to energy costs, contribution towards insurance/cleaning/maintenance costs, relevant equipment/refreshments, provision of activities etc.

Grant options:

  • Level one: £50-£500 - Small grant: e.g. equipment purchase, promotion, training.
  • Level two: £500-£2000 - Medium grant: for larger scale/scope locations, commitment to attend training for organisers, commitment to hold multiple events (e.g. 10+).
  • Level three: £2000-£5000 - Large grant: as above in addition, demonstrate track record of reaching vulnerable groups, higher number of people reached, provide a plan for sustainability, commitment to future activities and to provide a case study.

These sessions are free for anyone interested in learning more about Shropshire Warm Welcome hubs and the funding available.
