Warm Welcome Walk 1 - not your average guided walking tour
Date and time
Description
In 2017 Mohammad Champiri needed to leave his home in Isfahan, Iran. He left quickly, without his musical instruments. Mohammad was sent to Drumchapel, where he began to navigate the UK immigration system and to experience his surrounds, the streets and the parks in Drumchapel. Join musician Aref Ghorbani and curator at Glasgow Museums, Mia Gubbay for a walk of improvised musical reflections, inspired by Mohammad’s experience.
The meeting point is at Drumchapel Library. From 5:30 there will be coffee, tea and biscuits for participants of the walk. At 6pm there will be an introductory presentation/discussion, followed by a guided circular walk of around 1.5 hours. You will be back at the library at 8pm, when you will again have the opportunity to mingle and to have a tea/coffee and a biscuit.
The weather in Scotland can be unpredictable, so please make sure you bring suitable footwear and waterproofs. This event is OPEN TO ALL, including children.
Should weather be so bad as to prevent us from walking, there will be an improvised performance by musician Aref Ghorbani held at Drumchapel Library.
