Self-Defence & Personal Safety Workshop – Ladies & Girls Only

💥 Ready to feel safer, stronger, and more confident? Join us at Picket Twenty Community Centre, Andover for a hands-on, empowering workshop that will equip you with practical self-defence skills you can use in everyday life.

This is Workshop 1 of 2 in our series, delivered as part of the Warrior Project – a National Lottery-funded initiative by Warrior Collective CIC. Over the next two years, we’ll be running 60 FREE workshops across Hampshire to help women and girls build strength, resilience, and safety awareness.

🔴 Workshop 1: Personal Safety & Foundations of Self-DefenceWho it’s for: Women and girls aged 12+Length: 90 minutes Focus: Confidence, awareness, and essential escape techniques

What you’ll learn:

  • How to trust your intuition and set clear boundaries
  • Understanding personal space and assertive communication
  • Defensive stance and simple standing movement techniques
  • Escaping common grabs (wrist, arm, clothing)
  • De-escalation strategies to prevent conflict
  • Real-life scenario discussions
  • Empowerment through practice – not panic

Who can attend the workshop?

This workshop is open to women and girls aged 12+. All abilities and experience levels are welcome — you don’t need any prior training.

What should I wear?

Wear comfortable clothing you can move in (e.g. leggings/joggers and a t-shirt). Trainers are recommended.

Is their striking involved? (kicks and punches)

No, the methodology we teach does not promote striking, the reason for this is explained in the workshop.

How much does it cost?

Absolutely nothing! This workshop is free to attend thanks to National Lottery funding through the Warrior Project.

Do I need to be fit or strong to take part?

No – our sessions are beginner-friendly and adaptable for all abilities. We focus on practical techniques that anyone can use, regardless of fitness level.

Will there be physical contact?

Yes – there will be light, controlled physical contact for practising techniques. You’ll always have the choice to opt out of anything you’re not comfortable with.

Can I come on my own?

Absolutely! Many participants attend solo, and our sessions are friendly, supportive, and inclusive.
