Description

Community Action Network

“Universal Credit is coming to Warwick District – How will this impact on service providers?”

Universal Credit is a new means-tested benefit that is being introduced in stages across the UK to support people of working age who are working and on a low income or out of work. It replaces six existing means- tested benefits (Income Support, Income-based Jobseeker’s Allowance, Income-related Employment and Support Allowance, Housing Benefit, Child Tax Credit and Working Tax Credit) and is intended to be simpler than the current system of benefits and tax credits. It will be rolled out in Warwick District from October 2018.

It is likely that the introduction of this new benefit will lead to greater demands being placed on the third sector by benefit claimants who may need advice, support with going online, and/or emergency relief.

Warwickshire Community and Voluntary Action will be holding a Community Action Network event on Thursday, 22nd March 2018 at the Dormer Conference Centre in Leamington Spa with a view to identifying what impact the introduction of Universal Credit will have on Voluntary and Charitable Organisations and, hopefully, helping your organisation to understand and prepare for the changes.
