The Warwickshire Pride Book Club was created to share and explore LGBT+ literature, whilst fostering a safe and inclusive community to discuss stories, perspectives, and experiences.
It takes place on the first Thursday of each month at Leamington Spa Library and the second Saturday of each month at Stratford-upon-Avon Library. This Eventbrite Page is for Leamington.
Each month a different LGBT+ themed book will be discussed. The suggested books for upcoming sessions are:
- December - The Picture of Dorian Gray by Oscar Wilde
- January - This Arab is Queer
- February - Crush by Richard Siken
- March - The Colour Purple by Alice Walker
- April - Our Lady of the Flowers by Jean Genet
- May - The Membranes by Chi Ta-wei
*These books will have copies available in the library which people can collect on a first come first serve basis. People can collect them on the previous session (for example, December books can be collected in November).
Alternatively, if people wish to purchase books, we recommend https://www.wob.com/en-gb. WoB sells second hand quality books at more affordable prices.
Please feel free to send book suggestions to info@warwickshirepride.co.uk or let the book club facilitators, David and his colleagues, know when you attend.
The book club is free to take part in, although donations are welcome and will help contribute to the charity's activities. Please visit https://warwickshirepride.co.uk/donate if you are able to donate. Any amount helps. There is no pressure to donate though! It's completely optional and there is no judgement if you're not able to or don't want to donate. We just want you to come and enjoy a fabulous book club.
