'Through running participatory projects and creative workshops, I’ve seen how making together can be both healing and transformative. It’s not just about producing something; it’s also about presence — being in the moment with our hands, and engaging through making.

This act of making in community can bring lightness and connection that shifts the day and supports one's well-being.'

The session will begin with a quick collage exercise, cutting and arranging shapes from paper and fabric to spark ideas for colour and composition. From there, you’ll learn how to set up a simple warp on your loom and start weaving with a mix of plain weave, rya knots, and soumak — keeping things playful and experimental rather than too polished.

By the end of the class, you’ll have a finished mini tapestry that combines yarn, textiles, and paper for a one-of-a-kind piece. You’ll also take away your collage design for future inspiration, with the option to purchase your frame if you’d like to continue exploring weaving at home.
