Waste Not, Weave A Lot

The session will begin with a quick collage exercise, cutting and arranging shapes from paper and fabric to spark ideas for colour and composition. From there, you’ll learn how to set up a simple warp on your loom and start weaving with a mix of plain weave, rya knots, and soumak — keeping things playful and experimental rather than too polished.

By the end of the class, you’ll have a finished mini tapestry that combines yarn, textiles, and paper for a one-of-a-kind piece. You’ll also take away your collage design for future inspiration, and the option to purchase your frame if you’d like to keep exploring weaving at home.
