Watchdog and the Art of Consumerism

I'm Not Buying It – the world's only Watchdog fanzine – is a collaborative zine edited by Jared Schiller, exploring consumer culture through art and writing. For this hour Jared will discuss the making of the zine and be joined by three of its contributors: the journalist, artist and musician Siân Pattenden and artists Joshua Knowles and Josh Moir.
Ticket-buyers will get free access to a digital version of the zine, and a voucher code for 50% off a physical copy.
About the speakers:
Jared Schiller is an artist, film-maker and zine-maker based near Forres in Scotland. He’s made films about contemporary art for museums and galleries worldwide, and as an artist and curator was responsible for the world’s first art exhibition for chickens. His zines include How I Learned to Hate James Dyson, The Museum Director and The House Keisha Drew.
Siân Pattenden is a broadcaster, author and artist. She has written about music and culture for titles such as Smash Hits, NME, The Face, The Guardian, Select, The Times, Details and many others.
Joshua Knowles is an illustrator and curator of live and participatory art projects, and creator of several comic books. He is currently working on his first graphic novel, about his grandfather’s experience fighting fascism in the1930s and 40s.
Josh Moir is an artist, illustrator and writer from Dundee in Scotland. His work explores themes of place, personal experience and pop culture through a variety of media, but focusing on portraiture, illustration and printmaking.
Access information for this event:
This event is for ages 16+ and will be held online. You will need a good internet connection and a laptop/computer/mobile device to join us.
There will be 50 attendees maximum, and the event will feature comfort breaks. During this event, attendees will participate in: Talk / Lecture, Hands on activities, Q&A
