Water Direct – striking the balance

Developing best practice for organisations responsible for debt recovery and providing debt advice

We invite you to register to attend a free event on Water Direct organised by the Consumer Futures Unit’s Water Team.

The event Water Direct – striking the balance will provide delegates with an update on the roll-out of Water Direct, what it could mean for local authorities and for those in debt, and information on the development of debt recovery good practice that has taken place as part of joint working between local authorities and debt advice organisations, based on the experiences of Fife Council and Citizens Advice and Rights Fife (CARF).

When: Friday 24th March 2017

Where: Hilton Grosvenor Hotel in central Edinburgh

The conference will be chaired by Les Robertson from Fife Council, and will feature:

  • Presentations from Consumer Futures Unit, CARF, Money Advice Team from Citizens Advice Scotland and Fife Council.

  • Roundtable Discussion Breakout – balancing debt recovery with protecting vulnerable consumers

  • Questions and Answers with panel including:

- Damian Bray, Fife Council

- Audrey Cunningham, Citizens Advice and Rights Fife

- Danna Higgins, Citizens Advice Scotland

- Gail Walker, Water Team Manager, Consumer Futures Unit


Breakfast, tea, coffee and a networking buffet lunch will be provided.
