About this Event

The Water Hub is proud to host one of the Future Water Association's Water Dragon heats on October 9, 2019 at the Ogden Centre at Durham University.

Themes for this year's Water Dragons are:

  • Systems thinking in asset and catchment management
  • Water related services for agriculture

We’d love for you to join us at our Water Dragons heat, to listen, question and interact with the fantastic businesses we've selected to pitch in two separate competitions in one action-packed day.

  • Proof of Concept: The first competition will focus on proof of concept ideas, and we’ll invite businesses to give short 3-minute pitches. We've got a prize of £1500 for the winner (and £500 for the runner-up) to support product development.
  • Water Dragons: The second competition will be in collaboration with Future Water Association, where businesses will give an 8-minute pitch, and the best two ideas will go on to the final of Water Dragons in early 2019.

We have an expert panel of judges, representing our rich and varied sector:

  • Alastair Moseley, Director, Future Water Association
  • Arlene Goode, Arup & Network Integrator , Hydro National Water Innovation Services
  • Chris Jones, Research and Development Manager, Northumbrian Water
  • Lydia Nixon, River Basin Coordinator, Natural England, and Catchment Sensitive Farming
  • Richard Robinson, Integrated Flood Partnership Coordinator, The Environment Agency (Northumbrian Water)

On top of all of that, we'll be telling you more about opportunities to get support from The Water Hub, from small grants, to business mentoring and access to live test and validation facilities.

More information will be sent out to registrants closer to the event.
