About this event
Watford Borough Council has partnered with Branduin Business Support to deliver a new skills programme specifically designed for women based in Watford who:
- may be considering setting up a business (having taken a career break, etc)
- have started a business
- are looking to boost their existing business
The Women in Business support programme is an 8-week course (2 hours per week) starting after Easter, and we’re looking to onboard 15+ participants.
- Week 1 – Programme Launch, Setting Goals, and Starting a Business
- Week 2 – Developing your Business Model and Value Proposition
- Week 3 – Market Research and Testing Your Business Idea
- Week 4 – Personal Survival Budget, Sales forecast, Cash-flow forecast
- Week 5 – Finance, Accounting, HMRC requirements
Half-term Break
- Week 6 – Sustainability & Delivering Social Value
- Week 7 – Marketing: Social Media, Website, Selling Online
- Week 8 – Business Presentations and R&R
The programme welcomes women who, for personal and family reasons, have taken significant time off work or an extended break from their chosen careers, and are evaluating the prospect of self-employment.
This practical course will kick off at 11am on Thu 28 April at the Urban Room, Atria Watford, with an informal in-person event for participants to find out more about the programme, meet the programme leader and other women interested in joining the programme.
Branduin Business Support will present this new and exciting programme designed to help Women in Business reboot, recover, and grow.
The programme also offers two free 1-2-1 confidential business advice sessions with Elsa Caleb, an experienced business advisor who will work closely with you to find solutions to overcome your key challenges and grow your business.

Elsa has over 20 years of diverse experience in strategic business development, consulting, project management, mentoring, grants, and corporate sponsorship. She is a Trainer and Social Enterprise of the Year Awards winner and runs her own Centre of Excellence offering various business qualifications.
Elsa is a results-driven, resourceful professional with the expertise and a proven track record of assisting start-ups and high-growth business owners to develop and plan their business growth strategy.
Elsa holds 3 Fellowship positions: Royal Society of the Arts, Institute of Consulting and Honorary Fellow of Institute of Enterprise and Entrepreneurs (IOEE), and is a consultant to the British Business Bank (Start-up Loans) and as a SME Business Advisor to the Government.
She has previously delivered the Women in Business support programme successfully for two Local Authorities, and has worked on several Branduin business support programmes across London & SE England.
