Description

Join us for a Special one-off Comedy Ladder night at the Sports Pavilion Watlington!

We have three cracking comedians from the UK circuit.

First up on the evening is Richard Todd, a powerhouse of language and rich nonsensical imagery. He is truly unique on the circuit.

'… An inventive comic thinker' Steve Bennet, Chortle, '… A smart surrealist…' The Independent

'A Properly talented comic' Kate Copstick

'Constructing complex, bewilderingly intricate sentences from the far reaches of a vast vocabulary, he occasionally calls to mind ... an intelligent Russell Brand. Ultimately though, Todd emerges as a talent entirely of his own. The left-field subject matter he tackles is rooted in the everyday, and we identify with him for all his wildly eccentric thoughts and behaviour.' Lewis Porteous, Fest

'flashes of brilliance with complex, imaginative surrealism and an endearingly chaotic style' The Skinny

Our middle section of the evening is anchored by the BBC New Comedian of the Year 2015, Yuriko Kotani.

Kotani began performing stand-up in 2014. She was named as "One To Watch" by Time Out in 2015. She went on to become first runner up in So You Think You're Funny 2015?, won Brighton Comedy Festival Squawker Award 2015, 3rd place in Leicester Square Theatre New Comedian of the Year 2015, and was nominated for Leicester Mercury Comedian of the Year in 2016.

In 2016 Kotani appeared on series 2 of Russell Howard's Stand Up Central.

In March 2017, Kotani made her TV acting debut in BBC Three (online) Pls Like.

Yuriko is a fantastic comic who explores the key cultural differences between Japan and the UK in an endearing and hilarious way.

And topping off the evening is Cornish Master Storyteller, Matt Price.

Among his fellow comics Matt Price is known for having some of the most extraordinary and outrageous stories drawn from the wilder side of life. And yet this self effacing Cornish born comic brings real warmth and heart to his tales - as well as finding some audacious laughs in the most unexpected places. Price’s easy going charm has made him a favourite on the UK and International circuit and he has the skill to win over the toughest audiences.

“Matt’s natural sense of humour is incredible, unrivalled perhaps. He meets and bests every audience member’s comment and action hilariously, without resorting to any unoriginal put-downs. He makes the very best out of every unexpected situation, leaving the audience in stitches. Now, heckles aside, Matt’s material itself is truly brilliant. His stories are well put together, excellently told, and wonderfully funny.” Broadway Baby ★★★★★ August 2015

“Storytelling comedy, necessitates a level of honesty I like. And Price is one of the best at it around.” Scotland on Sunday August 2015

“...so much better than ‘a man telling stories’ sounds. So I don’t understand why he isn’t better known.” One4review★★★★★ August 2015

"Matt Price has a great comedy brain, tremendous speed and delivered a thoroughly enjoyable show." ★★★★★ S-C Magazine August 2015

“sidesplitting stories” West Australian February 2015

"Masterful" Phnom Phen Post, Cambodia

"A great storyteller" Leicester Mercury

"extraordinary candidness, underscored by a truly incisive comic brain." South Wales Echo

The evening will be ably compered by local comedian and promoter of Comedy Ladder, Stokenchurch's own, Andy Gleeks.

'A Natural Mc' Mirth Control Comedy

"Really great turn of phrase and a good comedy mind" The Glee Club

"Effortlessly engages the audience like it was a friends reunion in his front room." 'Warmth and charm' The House of Stand-up
