About this event

After the huge success of our first Kayak & Brunch (yes, we sold out last time! 😉), we’re back with an even more magical twist — Kayaking with Dolphins: A Respectful Encounter.

At sunrise, we’ll set off from the shoreline and paddle into the stunning Tamarin Bay, one of the best places in Mauritius to observe dolphins in their natural habitat. The calm morning waters offer the perfect chance to spot two incredible marine mammals: the spinner dolphin (Stenella longirostris) and the bottlenose dolphin (Tursiops truncatus). These beautiful creatures often take refuge in the bay at night to rest, mate, and feed — and if we’re lucky, we’ll witness them in their element.

🌿 This is a responsible and respectful dolphin encounter. Guided by an experienced instructor, we’ll approach carefully to protect both the dolphins and their environment.

🐬 A note about dolphin sightings: These encounters are completely natural and cannot be guaranteed — dolphins may sometimes be further offshore, out of reach for kayaks.

🌦 Weather contingency: If the weather conditions aren’t safe for the bay excursion, we’ll switch to a Tamarin River kayaking experience instead, where you can enjoy the calm waters and rich wildlife of the river.

🥐 After kayaking, we’ll gather for a well-deserved brunch — the perfect way to end a morning of nature, connection, and Wavey vibes.

Frequently asked questions

Do I need prior kayaking experience?

Yes. This experience is for participants with previous kayaking experience and good swimming ability.

Is there a weight or age limit?

Yes. Participants must be over 12 years old and weigh under 100 kg.

Will we definitely see dolphins?

We cannot guarantee dolphin sightings. Dolphins are wild animals and may sometimes be further offshore, beyond kayaking range. If this happens, we’ll take an alternative route exploring the Tamarin River and its rich wildlife.

What type of dolphins might we see?

Tamarin Bay is home to two main species: the spinner dolphin (Stenella longirostris) and the bottlenose dolphin (Tursiops truncatus), which often rest, mate, and feed in the bay at night.

What should I bring?

Aqua shoes/slippers (or barefoot), a k-way jacket in case of drizzle, sunscreen, a hat, at least 1L of water, a towel, and a waterproof pouch for personal items.

Where is the meeting point?

We meet at the boathouse next to Veranda Tamarin Hotel, Tamarin Bay. Please arrive by 6:00 AM sharp.

Is parking available?

Yes, there is parking nearby, but we recommend arriving early to secure a spot.

What happens after kayaking?

We’ll enjoy a delicious brunch together to refuel, relax, and connect.
