Young People's Conference
Wandsworth Youth Council are hosting the second Youth Momentum Conference, Friday July 3 from 10.00am to 3.30pm, at the Civic Suite, Wandsworth High Street. SW18 2PU.
WYC will be inviting 200 young people, aged 13 - 18, and 50 Decision Makers from across Wandsworth to take part to discuss:
- Votes at 16
- Mental Health
- Youth Unemployment
- Education and the Curriculum
- Police and Youth Engagement
In the morning, young people will take part in a creative workshop to explore one of these topics. Creative workshops include:
- Street Dance
- Spoken Word
- Street Art
- Forum Theatre
In the afternoon Young People and Decision Makers will take part in a Speed Questioning Activity. Young people will ask questions and offer solutions to help Decision Makers in their roles.
The aims of our conference are for 200 young people to:
Explore difficult topics through creative methods
Write Wandsworth’s Youth Participation Strategy
Question Councillors and Decision Makers on service design, delivery and evaluation
Councillors and Decision Makers will be invited to respond to young people’s ideas. Their responses will feed into the Youth Participation Strategy and Children and Young People’s Plan.
The day will be filmed and photographed to encourage future work, share best practice and record the day.
Each organisation will have a copy of the film and pledges made by Decision Makers.
Wandsworth Youth Council will help support services involve young people. They will be responsible for feeding back to Youth Momentum attendees what has happened as a result.

A Youth Voice staff conference to help support development of Student Councils and Youth Forums
The event is open to all Secondary Schools and Youth Clubs in Wandsworth.
Schools are asked to identify 15 young people to take part, ideally from their School Council or Youth Forum. Youth Groups or Youth Clubs are asked to identiy 5 young people.
Information and registration forms are being sent to all Head Teachers, PSHE / Citizenship leads and all Youth Workers in Charge.
