About this event

Wales Coaching Community will be by Zoom and you are invited to book using Eventbrite, which also contains the link you will need to join the session. See below for details.

We are excited to tell you that we have something of a first for South Wales!

Over time, several community members have voiced their curiosity about Sophrology,. We know from articles in journals and the wider Media that it is a way of bringing better focus and calmness into life through the practice of techniques, exercises and thinking that can both stand alone and complement practices such as mindfulness, meditation and yoga. It is often said to be simple, effective and easy to keep up as part of a support system. From wider coaching circles, we hear that coaches themselves have found Sophrology very helpful as well as for their clients. But there are few (if any) qualified practitioners in Wales so it is quite hard to find out more.

So we are delighted to be introducing BeSophro, the UK’s leading Sophrology clinic! Started by Dominique Antiglio in 2011, BeSophro has built a respect and excellent reputation through working with a wide variety of clients, individuals and groups, as well as organisations and within schools. Certainly Dominique and her team are never short of new clients, which is why we are so lucky to have their agreement to talk with us. The session will be an introductory one, led by a qualified and experienced member of the BeSophro team and provide sufficient information for you to consider for yourself (and perhaps others) how you might want to build on it. It will certainly be interesting and enjoyable.

A very short version of Dominiue’s story gives some background. She came to Sophrology (which is much more widely practised in Europe than in the UK) as a young woman, just out of the education system but with debilitating health issues. While clinicians had done their best to help her, it was only when she took up Sophrology that she regained strength, mental and physical to find her way in life training and working in osteopathy, specialising in children and pregnancy. From there, she complemented that specialism with training and qualifying with a Masters in Caycedian Sophrology, studying with Professor Caycedo who founded the method.

It will be great if you can join us.

A little about us:

We are a non-aligned community of practicing coaches welcoming all whatever their approach, length of time coaching or particular niche.  A recent virtual meeting proved just what wonderful, experienced, skilled and generous people there are in the Profession and confirmed an appetite for more of the same.   So we are delighted to invite you to our next session in which you will be free to co-coach in triads for 15mins each, share learning and compare experiences. It will be useful, supportive and enjoyable.

Some will have been a part of WCC events before and know what to expect, but it may help others to know that the Community is unaligned, does not promote any particular approach but operates a safe, secure, confidential and totally non-directive space in the cause of supporting our Profession.  (For example, the session will not work well if it is used as a commercial or promotional opportunity).

If you would like to join in, book your ticket using this Eventbrite link and we will send you joining instructions. Like all our sessions, this is free of charge and you will be pleased to note that your safety and security are an important part of all we do.

All we ask is that you observe the following:

 Our principles

  • We give and receive our unique thoughts, learning, skills and abilities but also our unique vulnerabilities, innocence, anxieties and insecurities in confidence and mutual trust as the basis of true learning and development.
  • We each take responsibility for the confidentiality commitments made with our own, and each other's clients.
  • Ethics are paramount and integral to our community.  This includes any duty we may have as individuals to uphold particular Codes of Ethics.
  • We are authentic and humble with each other, watchful for our own susceptibility to projection and transference or to otherwise seek to dominate or control for personal gain.
  • We are all responsible for the thriving of the Community and for sustaining its energy, impetus and joy.
  • We respect and do not take advantage of each other's intellectual property, professional standing or clientele without specific and explicit permissions and agreements being, as appropriate, exchanged.
