About this event

Each ticket is for a private tour for a maximum of 6 people from two households (in accordance with ScotGov's guidance). Price per group is £15.00

The icehouse was built in 1832, is 25 feet under ground and consists of 6 chambers. Inside you will find a tools room full of authentic fishing tools from the mid 19th Century and also a bones room full of (donated) real whale and dolphin bones. Our guides will take you back in time and talk about the history of the icehouse and the salmon fishing heritage of the area known as Tugnet. On the tour you will also take in the Dry Dive, our audio visual experience showing film footage of life above and below the Moray Firth.

All tours adhere to 2m physical distancing, the wearing of face coverings, Test & Protect protocols and all current guidance from the Scottish government.

Please turn up 5 minutes prior to your booking slot and the lead guest in your party will need to enter into the Centre shop, to let a team member know you have arrived.

The Scottish Dolphin Centre is the public face of the charity Whale and Dolphin Conservation, whose vision is a world where every whale and dolphin is safe and free. The Centre is based in the 200 year old Tugnet salmon fishing station at the mouth of the river Spey where it meets the North Sea. On site is a shop, cafe and small interactive exhibition area and free talks and tours are given daily in the historic Tugnet icehouse - the largest surviving icehouse in the UK.
