WDPSSA Event Information

Annual Cross-Country Competition 2017

Churchfield CE Academy is looking forward to hosting the occasion. We can be found on the High-Road at Cheshunt Wash (near the speed camera) and our post-code is EN8 0LU. Unfortunately there is no parking available at the school but do please use the car park to the Lee Valley Regional Park, which does charge but is right-next-door to us, or on-street parking opposite the school.

When you arrive at Churchfield, please make your way to the field at the back of the school by following the path to the right (this will be sign-posted).

School Team Participants

Each school may enter… one ‘A’ team of girls and one ‘A’ team of boys.

Teams consist of 5 pupils (Year 5/6) – that’s 10 children if you enter both a boys’ and girls’ team.

If schools wish to enter additional ‘B’ teams then these will be considered but runners must be clearly defined as either A or B team runners and cannot ‘change-teams’ dependent on their performance.

The first 3 finishers (from each team) count for the team score, but all 5 runners will receive a medal if their team finishes amongst the top three teams on the day.

Schedule of Events

Registration will be from 3.30pm to 4.00pm inclusive. Please register at the marque on the field at the back of the school.

The race briefing will start at 4.00pm.

The race will then begin at around 4.15pm and should finish by around 4.35pm.

Presentations will take place at approximately 4.45pm-5.00pm, on the school field.

Points system & Medals awarded

The award/medal presentations will take place at approximately 4.45pm, on the school field.

The first 3 finishers (from each team) count for the team score, but all 5 runners will receive a medal if their team finishes amongst the top three teams on the day.

There will be medals awarded for the first three girls’ teams and the first three boys’ teams.

There will be a ‘boys’ shield awarded, a ‘girls’ shield awarded and an ‘overall’ shield awarded for the winning school.

Additional WDPSSA Rules

The course will be approximately 1 mile long, and as usual, there will be marshals to ensure that the children do not get lost.

The course will be a ‘lapped-route’ whereby the children complete five laps around our school field. There are no significant obstacles on the course.

Each school should provide a member of staff to collect the ‘place cards’ at the end of the race so that the scoring can be calculated.

Sporting Behaviour

At the end of the event children should be encouraged to thank the Marshalls.

Team managers/members of staff are responsible for their runners and spectators at all times.

Please make your way directly to the field at the back of the school when you arrive at school.
