A night of great music with all ticket money going to The Trussell Trust to support foodbanks in Glasgow and East Dunbartonshire.
Sickened by the actions of Westminster Tories and what they are doing to our Social Security system, and spurred into action by the wonderful Ken Loach film, "I, Daniel Blake", this Glasgow band wanted to get involved and do their part to help. A benefit gig was the obvious way to do that.
Gavin Paterson & The Clancy Sessions Band will launch the new CD 'The Clancy/Makem Songbook' - all songs are taken from the Irish/Scottish tradition and re-arranged into something brand new. A five-piece band of Glasgow musicians with over 150 years collective performing experience. From Folk to Funk, Pop to Politics, there isn't much that these guys haven't played in their time. Brought together by Gavin Paterson to support his (entirely) solo album, they will play two full sets of songs, all of which have previously had the name Clancy or Makem attached to them. There will be songs that you know and love, all played in dynamic new arrangements, and other songs that are less well-known but deserve to be heard.
Staff from The Trussell Trust will be at the event to say a few words and will also take a collection of foodstuffs for their foodbanks - so please bring food items for that.
