Description

Message sent on behalf of Robin Tuddenham, Chief Executive Calderdale MBC

I would like to personally invite you to our ‘We Are Calderdale’’ conference on 14th March 2019.

The conference will be one of the most important events of the year in the borough, and will be the first time we all come together to review our progress since the launch of our Vision 2024 in March.

Vision 2024 represents our collective vision, setting out what Calderdale wants to become by 2024 and what we hope will define our place when the local authority becomes 50 years old. Our Vision is based upon 5 words – Enterprising, Talented, Resilience, Kindness and Distinctiveness.

Since March, we have taken our Vision 2024 to thousands of people through events, materials, videos and stories (take a look here: https://www.calderdale.gov.uk/v2/council/vision-2024). We have developed a programme of leadership seminars for new and emerging leaders, held social media takeover weeks, and worked collaboratively with partners across sectors on initiatives that support our vision. We have developed an outcomes framework which we are consulting on and which we intend to use as a way to test the impact of what we are doing, which we will formally launch on this date.

The conference will be co-created by local young people and will take place at Calderdale College in Halifax on the morning of Thursday 14th March 2019. We look forward to welcoming over 200 people from across all sectors and all our communities, reflecting our diverse and distinct borough. At ‘We Are Calderdale’ 2019 you will hear from key heard and unheard voices as we did this year, with skills development sessions and inspirational speakers, who will make key announcements connected to our future work on Vision 2024 . I am also delighted to advise that our keynote speaker will be Julia Unwin CBE, Chair of the Independent Commission on the future of Civil Society, a former chief executive of the Joseph Rowntree Foundation, and a Carnegie UK Trust Fellow. Julia will share her insights on the power of kindness, outlined in her recent report for the Carnegie Trust, the importance of place, tackling inequalities, and how this might shape the future of public services. I hope and expect this will resonate with us given our early and innovative focus on Kindness as part of our Vision 2024.

We expect demand for places to be huge, so please ensure you sign up as soon as possible to secure your place. Please do share the invitation with others as you feel appropriate.

I look forward to welcoming you all on 14th March for what I am sure will be an excellent event.
