We are Friends in Libraries is at Chingford Library every Monday from 11:00am to 11:30am.
It is a weekly intergenerational storytelling program that brings older residents, under 5’s and their parents/guardians together - through storytelling and singing songs. There’ll be puppets, instruments, colorful scarves and bubbles, and you’ll all get a chance to create new friendships across the generations.
Intergenerational activities can reduce loneliness and social isolation, boost mental wellbeing and self confidence.
These sessions are part of the Council’s Best Start in Life offer funding The Together Project (the national charity that boosts wellbeing, reduces loneliness and fosters stronger, happier communities through joyful intergenerational activities) to deliver ‘We are Friends’ in collaboration with our Libraries service.
● Are you a family with an under 5 who would like to come along and make friends with older people in the community?
● Do you have an older relative or friend who might like to join you?
● Are you an older person who would like to come along to the story and rhyme sessions with the under 5’s?
● Are you a care home who would like to bring some of your residents to meet the little ones?
If you answer yes to any of the questions, then book your place and come along to join the fun!
