We need to talk about race and ethnicity in the charity sector

Charities need to work harder to improve ethnic diversity at every level.  We must keep pace with changing population dynamics and ensure that our services and workplaces are inclusive, representative of society and free from implicit and explicit discrimination.  Many charities know this and help initiatives to address the barriers they BAME applicants and employees face - but why is progress still so slow?

We absolutely must develop diverse talent to respond to BAME under-representation across the sector and from a leadership point of view, turn commitment into  action.

Join professionals from across the sector to discuss best practice and how we can organisationally and collectively to address the ethnic diversity gap.

This free networking and discussion event is open to everyone in the charity sector and interested stakeholders and is facilitated by EDI consultant Natasha Broomfield-Reid.  We will also be launching Action for Children's BAME staff network - Breakthrough.  All welcome and we look forward to welcoming you to Action for Children's headquarters where you will learn more about how we improve outcomes for children, young people and families across the UK.

Action for Children

How Action for Children works: from before they are born until they are into their twenties, we help disadvantaged children across the UK. We help them through fostering or adoption – and by intervening early to stop neglect and abuse. We make life better for disabled children. We influence policy and advocate for change. Our 7,000 staff and volunteers operate over 600 services, improving the lives of 390,000 children, teenagers, parents and carers every year. We succeed by doing what's right, doing what's needed, and doing what works for children.
