Join Storyteller Cassandra Wye and Astronomer Megan Argo on an amazing science and storytelling adventure - to the Moon and back!

The event will start with observing the Moon through Alston’s telescopes (weather permitting), followed by storytelling in the Planetarium, and finish with making a Moon model to take home.

Observatory open from 5.00pm, activities from 5.30-7pm.

Tickets FREE - but due to limited space MUST be booked in advance.

Recommended for families with children aged 5 - 11 years.

This event is accessible for wheelchair users.

FAQs

Is there an age limit to take part?

There are no age limits, but children should be accompanied at all times, as the site will be dark. This event is aimed at families with young children.

What are my transport/parking options getting to the event?

We have very limited parking, so please try to share rides, or arrange a taxi/lift to and from the event. The observatory is on an unlit country lane and is not safe to walk along at night.

What should I bring to the event?

Observing can be cold so please bring something warm to wear. A small torch, ideally covered with something red, such as a transparent sweet wrapper, will help you navigate the outdoor parts of the observatory without ruining your or anyone else's night vision.
