Susan Smith talks about conscientious objectors in Oxford during WW1.


The Military Service Act in 1916 made conscription compulsory for the first time in British history. Henry Gillett and Harry Waddle were conscientious objectors from Oxford and this talk will explore what happened to them and other conscientious objectors.

Susan Smith is a local researcher investigating conscientious objectors during WW1. Refreshments available from 1.30pm
