WEAR Sustain Open Call Launch - London

Join us for the London launch of WEAR Sustain, a new €3m pan-European project that aims to shift the development of the wearables and e-textile landscape towards a more sustainable and ethical approach.
A day of speakers and discussion, hosted by Digital Catapult, will take place on the future of ethical and sustainable wearables and e-textiles, followed by an evening announcement of the project’s Open Call to fund wearables and smart textiles concepts that address ethics and sustainability.
The evening will finish with networking to support interested applicants in finding a collaborative partner to apply to the project’s Open Call.
Ethical, Sustainable Wearables and Smart Textiles Symposium

Delegates will hear from speakers including independent designer Anne Prahl PHd, who specialises in design for sustainability; Ed Gillespie, Founder of communications agency Futerra Consultancy; Professor Martin Charter, Director of The Centre for Sustainable Design & Professor at University for the Creative Arts and Professor Sandy Black, Professor of Fashion & Textile Design & Technology, Centre for Sustainable Fashion, University of the Arts London, London College of Fashion. Followed by a panel discussion, chaired by Camille Baker, UCA.
Inspired by an early afternoon of talks the discussion will move to the floor as delegates break out into smaller groups to discuss issues and constraints around the life-cycle of design, innovation, development, manufacturing, distribution and waste management for wearable technologies and smart textiles and how to get around these.
WEAR Sustain funding announcement, Networking & Drinks
6pm - 9pm
Camille Baker from University for the Creative Arts and Rachel Lasebikan from Queen Mary University of London will announce the WEAR Sustain Open Call for collaborative funding. A fun evening of networking will follow, aimed at connecting designers, artists, technologists and engineers, and to inspire the co-creation of novel concepts for the WEAR Sustain €50,000 project funding to develop ethical and/or sustainable prototypes. The WEAR Sustain team will be on hand to answer any funding queries.
