About this event

Fashion • Fashion

Join us for the launch of @Wearable.CIC, a community-led sustainable fashion network in Haringey, North London, focused on things to wear or once worn. We’re building an online network, running shared market stalls and hosting community workshops and events to promote and celebrate sustainable fashion locally.

We are the Haringey Hub for Sustainable Fashion Week 2025 an annual, community-led, UK-wide initiative that raises awareness about the environmental and social impact of fashion, making sustainable practices accessible to everyone @sustainablefashionweek_uk

This free evening event features a vibrant mix of talks, workshops and a sustainable fashion pop-up market:

👗 Sustainable Fashion Talk by Christine Chick

Christine is an Associate Lecturer at the Fashion Retail Academy with over 25 years’ experience in the fashion industry. In this friendly and practical talk, she explores how we can all make more sustainable fashion choices, from the clothes we buy and wear to how we make, mend or sell locally.

Topics include:

• The impact of different fabrics and fibre choices

• Spotting greenwashing

• Tips for caring for clothes, reducing waste and buying better

• How to make sustainability personal with your own action plan

There may even be a fun sustainability quiz (tech depending)

🪡 Collaborative Banner Making Workshop

Join a relaxed hands-on session to help sew our fabric Wearable banner for use at future stalls and events. Learn simple hand stitching and embroidery techniques. Open to all ages and skill levels, no experience needed

🛍️ Mini Sustainable Fashion Market

Browse a colourful tabletop sale of upcycled, handmade and secondhand pieces by local makers including:

@happy.stuff.studio – bold bright statement jewellery

@amorphmake – hand sewn fabric plants, homeware and accessories

@EmilyWearsThis – curated pre loved and upcycled fashion finds

🍽️ Hosted at The Hillbilly Social

This warm and welcoming community venue includes a café, restaurant and brewery taproom in a community owned building. Enjoy delicious Sri Lankan Caribbean fusion food, local beer and spirits, wine and non alcoholic drinks

All welcome. Come curious, come comfy, come as you are.

A big thank you to the Myddleton Road Community Benefit Society for awarding us a community grant to help get Wearable started!
