Weaving workshop - Create your own woven wall hanging

Join us for a lovely morning of relaxed crafting learning to create your own woven wall

hanging.

Sophie will guide you through all the steps from start to finish. You will learn how to set up

your weaving, learn 3 weaving techniques; tabby, soumak and rya knots and how to finish

your weaving ready for hanging.

This workshop is suitable for beginners with all materials provided.

You will be able to pick the main three colours for your wall hanging from a selection of

100% British wool available on the day. Everyone will have white yarn to use for their

fringe at the bottom of their wall hanging.

Sophie is passionate about supporting the local economy and protecting the environment

so the materials are as local and eco-friendly as possible.

Weaving is a very relaxing and versatile craft. Perfect for when you want to spend some

time mindfully crafting.

The Craft House was established in 2016 in Saltaire by April Chamberlain, who continues to manage the business. Having started in Saltaire, The Craft House is now run from new, larger, premises at 109-111 Main Street, Bingley. We have a lovely ground floor cafe and welcoming workshop spaces on the first floor (reached by stairs with two handrails). We offer a vibrant programme of art, craft and textile workshops and courses for adults, enabling you to develop existing skills as well as try new activities. Working closely with a team of talented artist/maker tutors, we provide expertly-run classes in a friendly and supportive atmosphere. We cater for a range of skill levels, from first-time participants to people with existing skills (including other professional artists and makers looking to develop their techniques). Our emphasis is on encouraging creativity and enjoyment whilst passing on key skills. We also cater for private parties and events - please telephone us or call into the cafe to discuss. Please note that all our events are subject to us achieving minimum booking requirements, as we need to ensure they are commercially viable for our tutors - if we have to cancel an event, we will refund your ticket and give you as much notice as possible.
