This course will address complex legal and practical issues arising in the context of the EU Settlement Scheme. The course aims to equip practitioners with an understanding of how to deal with these issues in their cases.

Part 1 of this course will provide a general update on the EU Settlement Scheme with a particular focus on:

1. Late applications and remedies

2. Automation and Residence requirements

3. Joining Family Members

4. Case law updates

5. Other emerging key issues

Part 2 of this course will focus on deportation and certification in relation to beneficiaries of the Withdrawal Agreement.

The session is aimed at all practitioners working with EU clients.

Tutors: Mala Savjani, Associate Solicitor at Wilson Solicitors LLP and Eva Doerr, Barrister at Garden Court Chambers

Mala is a Solicitor at Wilson Solicitors LLP. Her practice covers a wide range of immigration, asylum and nationality law, with particular focus on the EU Settlement Scheme and retained EU law, family and private life applications and applications made outside of the Rules. She also works on complex Judicial Reviews and appeals for a wide range of clients. She is currently working on the SAFE Project looking into strategic challenges of the EUSS.

Eva is a barrister at Garden Court Chambers. Eva has extensive experience in immigration, asylum and public law, having worked in this field since 2015. She has developed a particular interest and experience in EU free movement law and the impact of Brexit on EEA nationals and their family members. Eva mainly delivers training on EU free movement law and the EU Settlement Scheme (beginner and advanced). She has spoken at the Annual Free Movement Conference and the ILPA AGM.

Is the webinar recorded?

Yes, we record all our webinars. We send a link to the recording to attendees after the webinar. You are not permitted to share the recording.

Will I receive a copy of the slides/course materials?

Yes. All attendees are sent a copy of the slides/course materials 2 days before the webinar. You are not permitted to share these materials.

I can’t attend the course. Can I get a refund?

Yes. If you cancel an order over 7 days before the event, you are entitled to a refund of 100% minus the Eventbrite booking fee. You cannot claim a refund within 7 days of the webinar. If you fail to attend an event you are not entitled to a refund.

I can't attend the course. Can I transfer my booking to a colleague?

You can transfer your registration for a charge of £5. If the substitute is liable for a higher fee than the person they are replacing then the balance of the fee must be paid in full before the replacement is admitted to the course. If you have any questions please email training@ilpa.org.uk
