Breaking the ties that bind - from legacy to Cloud

Flexible, agile, cost-effective, fast and secure - now that many of the main cloud platforms and technologies are UK hosted they offer the public sector exciting possibilities in an era of hard budgets and uncertainty.

The reign of legacy systems, as 'too hard' or 'too expensive' to change, is rapidly coming to an end as the public sector harnesses cloud, SaaS, big data, analytics and automation to innovate its way to success.

But what will be the final tipping point that breaks the ties that bind?

GDPR is a potential candidate: Under GDPR citizens will have the right to make subject access requests free of charge - and you will need to pull together all information from across your organisation in order to answer requests within a reasonable timescale. With ICO publicity campaigns due to inform the public about their 'data rights' ahead of GDPR's implementation on 25th May, it is likely that a significant number of citizens will put requests to public services. Public interest may well exceed that following implementation of the Freedom of Information Act.
