About this event
Webinar: Centreing Racial Equity in Services for Older Adults in North Somerset
Are the voices of racially minoritised older people being heard in North Somerset?
As our community grows and becomes more diverse, we face a critical challenge: ensuring that the services we provide are equitable and inclusive for everyone. The views of racially minoritised older people are frequently unheard, leaving a significant gap in our understanding and our ability to provide effective care and support.
Join Race Equality North Somerset (RENS) and Voluntary Action North Somerset (VANS) for a webinar dedicated to putting the experiences of racially minoritised and seldom-heard older people at the forefront of service planning and delivery.
What We'll Discuss
This webinar will explore the findings of RENS work with racially minoritised older people which resulted in the LET YOUR VOICE BE HEARD! Report from RENS https://rens.org.uk/wp-content/uploads/2023/10/RENS-Let-Your-Voice-Be-Heard-Consultation.pdf which tied into the larger work around Aging Well in North Somerset :
- Centering Unheard Voices: How can we fundamentally change our approach to ensure the perspectives of racially minoritised older adults directly shape the services they use?
- Defining a Good Older Age for All: What does a positive and supported older age look like through the lens of different cultural backgrounds and lived experiences?
- Building Equitable Community Connections: How can we foster genuine intergenerational relationships and create inclusive opportunities for older people from all backgrounds to share their skills and knowledge?
- Challenging the Narrative: How do we actively combat stereotypes and create a new, inclusive narrative around aging in North Somerset?
